Work Title: "My blood, Your Script & Bull Tongue"

Work Title: "My blood, Your Script & Bull Tongue"
Performance
 Approximate duration: 20 min
(Dhaka Art Summit 2014)
About the work.
Nepalese Gurkha soldiers are an integral part of the British Army since last 200 years. Their motto "Better to die than to be a coward" is very ironic for me; I feel it's reflecting their hardest life before joining British Army. The whole world knows only Gurkhas brave stories but nobody had ever tried to know the reality behind their bravery. Always war begins by the egoistic thoughts and attitude of few people. Personally and politically Nepal has no conflict with anybody in the world. But in large parts of world war histories a lot of Nepalese lost their life & are still losing. During the First & Second World War only, more than 251,000 Nepalese Gurkhas fought & 60,000 lost their life. Another saddest movement we have noticed that in our Nepalese history we don’t have any text regarding Gurkhas. Nepal government has not given any attention to Gurkhas except collecting remittance from them. UK also has not succeeded to provide similar facilities to Gurkha soldiers as their own British soldiers.
In this performance I want to show how Illiteracy & Unemployment make blind the young people to risk their life in foreign land & the value of Gurkha army's blood.  For this performance I hang one British flag on my skin with safety-pin. I used two white bowl in one I put matchsticks (for symbol of bullet) & in another bowl I put my own blood. I fire matchsticks and cease the fire in the blood then i coats blood on my face and body with the sticks.
